FIRE

This is not a fire drill I ‘ll have you know
There’s billowing smoke filling the sky
I hear the screams rising up in strength
And feel the fire come closing in

The blaring sirens are up ahead
Which reassures my beating heart
I dwell in hope that I’ll be saved
Knowing that help is on its way

I feel the heat like in a kiln
My clothes are clinging closely to my skin
I sense the firemen are drawing near
But will they save me,I don’t know ?

Rescued from the fiery blast,
I stand, a huddled figure outside my flat
Surprised that I have made it out
Without a scratch on my part

So thanks to God ,I am still alive
And saved by these strong valiant folk
Who risk their lives every day
Working tirelessly without a praise
