LOSS

I hear the bang and I’m in free fall
And there’s nobody there that I can call
I close my eyes, I’m in the dark
Buried under, looking for the mark

I cry for help but no one hears
I’ll whisper words into their ears
Make them listen ,I am still here
I’m laying there amid the thistles
Reaching out as the wind whistles

Looking down as people gather
Wondering why it should matter
That the breeze rustles the dead leaves
Like cold fingers running up my sleeves

My back is turned ,I do not wait
With burning thoughts,I can’t think straight
I’ll walk in line and try to find
The nagging question in my mind

My husband stands and then he starts
To mumble words as I depart
he’ll always love me in his heart
For marriage  is till death do part
