WHAT DID WE DO?

What did we do to earn such grace,
That mercy meets us face to face?
We brought no gift, no righteous claim,
Yet still He calls us each by name.

What did we do to win His heart,
Before our days had even start?
No work of ours, no shining deed—
Just love that saw our deepest need.

What did we do to deserve His Son,
The Holy, sinless, Perfect One?
He took our cross, He bore our shame,
And wrote our freedom in His name.

We did not earn, we cannot pay,
For love was given anyway.
Not by our might, nor by our will
But by His grace, He loves us still
